Manasota Key Real Estate

A small, secluded barrier island off the coast of Englewood, Manasota Key, Florida, is a low-key key, with just one two-land road, no stoplights and some of the area's most exquisite, clean and beautiful beaches. The north end of the key is home to private single-family homes on one-acre lots behind a vast area of tropical foliage. The south end of the island has low-rise condominium and apartment buildings, and part of it is located in Charlotte County.

The key has four beaches making up an area of about 14 acres, with special areas for tables, barbecue pits, boardwalks and bathhouse facilities. Blind Pass Beach is possibly the most popular beach, known for great swimming, fishing and its more than 60 acres of nature trails and a docking area for boaters coming in from the Intra Coastal Waterway. The southern part of the island also is home to Stump Pass Beach State Park, a popular destination year-round for visitors both locally and from further away.

To the south, the key is bordered by Lemon Bay and the many islands of mangroves. Dolphins and manatees can be found splashing and swimming about here, and it's a popular activity for visitors to try to spot some of the majestic sea creatures. The Hermitage Artist Retreat in the north offers an ideal setting for those looking for a relaxing spot to really focus or just to get away from it all.

In 2007, the island was estimated to be home to a population of less than 1,500. Residents at that time were measured to have a median annual household income of around $57,000, and the median value for a home or condo in the area at that time was nearly $420,000. The nearest hospital is about 13 miles away in Englewood. The nearest airport is about 30 miles away in Sarasota, and there are several colleges and universities within an hour's drive.
